Last night we met Gayoung in Hongdae. Hongdae, while known for its clubs and student scene, also touts many samgyupsal (barbequed pork belly) restaurants, and the place we chose didn’t disappoint! Drew was happy to finally get some kogi! and I think Gayoung was entertained by the novelty of doing soju shots with her new-found unni and dongsaeng.
It was great to catch up with Gayoung. She’s living in Incheon now, and working for an organization that provides aid and resources to Africa. She says it’s boring doing mostly administrative work after her time in Indonesia, but she gets to go to Ethiopia for work in July.
Following dinner and a stroll around Hongdae, we settled down for some intense noraebang. It. Was. Awesome. Drew put on a stellar performance of Girls Generations’ Gee, and I apparently impressed him by knowing all the words to Spice Girls’ Wannabe. My throat is dry this morning from singing at the top of my lungs, and my abs are tender from laughing so hard.
