I got a call from UC Berkeley’s Department of Ethnic Studies the other day—I got in! I was desperately hoping to get accepted, but it still came as a shock. The PhD program had 150 applicants this year, and they admitted only 10. And even better, I’m guaranteed at least one multi-year fellowship, which means most student fees and tuition are waived.
As much as I love my work at KAWAWA, I’m looking forward to going back to school in the fall. I love getting new notebooks and pens, the excitement of getting everything organized and orderly with files and post-it notes.
I think this also means that I can justify getting a new laptop. Grr, this lemon of a Dell…I had such high hopes for you, with your shiny blue cover and your touted six-hour battery.
So my wedding’s August 13, the fall semester starts the 18th, and instruction begins August 24. August should be interesting.
