I love Imo-Halmoni. She is a tiny woman who eats voraciously all the time, does silly dances, laughs with her head thrown back and mouth wide open.
But she’s also a very strong woman. She took care of Omma when she was pregnant with me, and told me she had wanted to raise me as her own daughter (she has a husband and 2 sons), but was very poor at the time and could not take me in. But she was there when I was born, and held me that first day. She hosted Omma and me in her apartment in Bucheon. She was the one that relayed our story to my sister, Ga-Young making her understand, forgive, and open her arms to me.
